What is TDS ?
TDS is Direct Tax which is a part if Income Tax In India. It is the tax deducted at source of transaction. TDS Mostly applicable on various Services but in some case it also deduct on Goods (if service amount exceeds the threshold limit prescribed by the government).
If you are an Accountant in any organization in India, then you will know that: you have to Calculate TDS amount on monthly basis liable on specified Expense and deposit to govt. authorities through offline & online mode.
Offline Mode: in Offline mode of TDS Payment, people generally collect the Challan from Bank, fill the details (TAN Number of the company, Address, Assessment Year, Quarter, Amount, TDS Challan Code, Section etc.) & pay to bank along with the cheque. Then the bank will debit the payer's account with specified amount in the cheque.
but, instead of visiting bank, standing in the queue & wastage of lots of time: you can simply do this process online if you have Debit Card or Net Banking Facility Available.
Online Mode: You Just need to Follow the below steps to Pay TDS Online:
1. Visit the TIN-NSDL website
2. Go to: Services > e-payment: Pay Tax Online > A new tab will open
3. Go to 1st Box :TDS/TCS and Click to Proceed
4. A page will open. Then just fill the required details such as (Tax Code, Type of Payment, Nature of Payment, Select the mode of payment (whether through Net Banking or Debit Card), TAN Number, Assessment Year, Company's Address)
5. Enter the Captcha Code and process further
6. Next page will tell you to confirm the details entered
7. Proceed further and select the payment details required from your preferred banks.
(Note: Different banks & different payment modes may different interface. You need to carefully look the required fields & proceed carefully)
After following the steps, your payments will complete and bank will generate the Payment Challan. This is the most important document of payment. Take the downloaded file in Soft or Hard Copy and save for the return filing purpose.
