Legal Age of Liquor Consumption in Delhi

As per the latest news and announcement of Delhi Government, there are 3 important decisions were taken about the Liquor Consumption in Delhi. Those are as follows:

(i) Legal age of Drinking Liquor in Delhi has been reduced to 21. Previously this age was 25. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodiya has announced the new Excise Policy under which the above decision has been taken. We know that the liquor sale and its revenue is one of the most important factors of the Delhi’s Income. Even previous year in 2020, Government first opened the liquor shot after the lockdown. This was the first decision of Delhi Government. Now when the age has been reduces, the more people will buy more liquor which increases the income of the Government

(ii) Another Announcement is that the from now onwards, no new Liquor shops will open in Delhi (until the next order from the government)

(iii) Also, Delhi Government has announced that the Liquor shops will now go in the hands of Private Hands and government will not operate any liquor shops from now. There will be no Government approved shops will available in Delhi. Currently more than 60% of the Liquor Shops in Delhi are operating under the Delhi Government as a Governments Liquor shops

Government has taken above decisions to stop the illegal smuggling of Liquor inside the state. Government is estimating that this action and new Excise reforms will increase the sale of Liquor by 20%. Now government will only control and keep an eye on the movement so that the liquor mafia will not be able to smuggle the un-approved liquids in Delhi
