We are working in an Organization and the functioning's of each and every organization differs from one-another but there are some things still the same in all companies among of those the "Leave Types or Leave Policies" are one of them.
So, today we will give you the brief about all types of leaves available in any companies in India
(1) Sick Leave: It's common from the name that Sick Leaves allowed in case of sickness and illness. Sickness may be instant or prior indicated. Ex. Fever, Cold etc.
As per the most of the Company's Policy, Sick leaves lapse after the ending of That Financial or Calendar Year (depends of the leave cycle period). You can't carry forward the Sick Leaves to next Year
(2) Casual Leaves: Casual Leaves are instant leaves taken because of situational happenings and there will be no prior indications regarding these activities.
Example: You woke up in the morning and your suddenly parents told you to get the Sister from the Railway Station because of which you were required to take leave for the whole day
As per the most of the Company's Policy, Casual leaves lapse after the ending of That Financial or Calendar Year (depends of the leave cycle period). You can't carry forward the Casual Leaves to next Year
(3) Earned Leaves: Earned leaves are the most beneficial leaves provided in any organization. These are pre-defined monthly leaves available in every company.
Example: 1 Earned Leave, 1 Sick Leave and 1 Casual Leave. Most of the companies provides 30 leaves (combination of all leaves) in a Year apart from the Sundays; Saturdays and national holidays.
Earned leaves are those leaves which can be carried forward in next year or can be Encashed in monitory terms (as per the choice of the employee). Earned Leaves are also called Leave With Pay (LWP) where you take the leave but your salary doesn't deducted by the Employer and adjust with the Earned Leave Balance.
Earned leaves can be carried forward in long run from 2 years to till employment
When there is no-leave reason mentioned in leave application form, then the HR mostly adjust that leave with Earned Leave. Saving your earned leaves and using other leaves as a reason behind the leaves can save your Earned Leaves which can be taken in lump-sum for long occasions such as: Marriage, Family Holidays etc.
(4) Maternity Leaves: Maternity leaves are provided to Mothers in case of new Child Born. The leaves provided the leave with pay facility for 26 Weeks (6 months). This 26 Weeks leaves provided the benefit for 2 child only. If there will be 3rd Child, the Benefit will be reduced to 12 Weeks
(5) Compensatory Off (Comp-Off): If you worked during Week-off Days or during the other allowed holidays because of urgencies of work, then you can claim Comp-Off. But to claim the benefit of Comp-Off, you need an approval of HR & Manager otherwise you will not be allowed to comp-off. You need Prior Approval. If you worked on holidays the you can take that leave in any other day/week/month.
Apart from these holidays/leaves, the company may allowed other leaves such as:
