Whenever we visit websites and try to Register or Login to get the Services required, we need to enter or re-type some strange lying & strangely written text & numbers or Need to select some objects as per the instruction to prove that we are not Robots. Have you ever thought why these are for ? Why we need to enter Captcha Codes or select "I am not a Robot Option" to Register of Login ?

Today we will discuss about these.

What is Captcha Code ?

CAPTCHA Refers to "Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart".  It perform a test depend on which the website will automatically track whether the thing trying to enter in the website is an actually a Human or Robot. Captcha Creates a task for the humans to verify that they are really humans not computer generated bots. 

Today in the digital era, you can perform many tasks on Website with the help of bots (System Generated Signals to perform task automatically). If these occupy all the space and act like a human then the real purpose of those websites will not fulfill which is to Serve their services to Humans only not for Bots or Computer Generated Codes. Bots can access all the features inside the website without any human intervention. So, this will not beneficial for humans because the knowledge they required are consuming by the Bots and because of those bots humans are not allowed to enter in the website because they are already occupied the maximum allowed space.

Because of this, CAPTCHA codes were introduced. CAPTCHA adds an extra layer between user page of website to its actual user. It means, whenever a bot trying to enter in certain website, it needs to enter the CAPTCHA code which is not possible because bots are pre-made codes which only break the fixed walls in the website but CAPTCHA codes are variable. Its always changing in nature. The Texts & Numbers always changes. CAPTCHA will never be the same so in this case, it will not possible to break the CAPTCHA Wall for the bot and enter in the Website. Only a Human can read those CAPTCHA's and enter in the website.

But with time coders and developers also developed an smart technology which can break Text & Number CAPTCHA's. So, developers introduced Image Captcha which is called Re-CAPTCHA

In Image Captcha, you need to select the required boxes & fields as instructed in the question. Bots can break the Texts and Numbers but to identify the required image boxes in the Image is difficult to recognize. That's why we see image CAPTCHA's in mostly websites. These are for security purposes for websites also because websites without captcha can be easily hack or any external person can do unfair practices an per their need.

Apart from Text, Numbers & Images: there is also an option for Sound Captcha where computer speak out the captcha code so that you can hear the sound and enter on computer. This facility is provided for the vision less person which is great step

That's why we see "I am not a Robot" section to verify whether the bot is using the service or a Human

So, from next time: whenever you visit websites and see those captcha's, please don't think that this is useless. This is for the security of Website and also for Users so that they can use the services offered by the host.
